Launched to celebrate 100 years of the Monte Carlo Rally, and commemorate the 110 year anniversary of the brand’s motorsport efforts, this special edition model is a nod towards Skoda’s sporting pedigree.

From the outside, the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo boasts a dynamic look, underlined by the introduction of piano-black body trim, which extend over the wheel arches and down the full length of the car, a black roof, black door mirror covers, a black radiator grille top, smoked headlamps and black 17″ lightweight Trinity alloy wheels.

Inside the Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo, customers can choose between all black or, red and black sports seats which boast additional side support. Both versions come with black roof lining, a perforated leather steering wheel with red stitching, leather handbrake and gearstick gaiter with red stitching (with the red-black interior option). To complete the enhanced sporty appeal silver kick plates and steel pedals are fitted as standard.

The new Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo is set to make its first public appearance at Rallye Monte Carlo (19th – 22nd January 2011), where Skoda’s current all-conquering IRC championship winning rally car, the Skoda Fabia S2000, finished fourth (in class) on its first outing at this legendary rally in 2009. In 2010, Skoda Motorsport finished second, third and fifth (in class) with Hanninen, Vouilloz and Kopecky, respectively.

Available as hatchback only, the car’s trim is based on the current Skoda Fabia SE version, and the new Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo will be available with a wide range of engines.

Skoda Auto is presenting a comprehensive portfolio of second-generation environmentally-friendly GreenLine cars at the Paris International Motor Show. For the Skoda Yeti, a compact SUV, and the Skoda Superb Combi the introduction of ecological technology means two world premieres. Modern engines and new technology that Skoda Auto offers as a part of its attempts to minimise the car industry’s impact on the environment are now available to drivers across all model ranges. They offer not only Simply Clever solutions such as a start-stop system and braking energy recuperation, but also top-quality engines utilizing the latest technology that provide for environmentally-friendly and economical running of a car.

The 1.6 TDI CR 77 kW (Skoda Octavia, Skoda Yeti and Skoda Superb) and 1.2 TDI CR 55 kW (Skoda Fabia and Skoda Roomster) engines are top-quality technology focused on making cars as economical and environmentally-friendly as possible. Like all other diesel engines offered by Skoda Auto, they are equipped with particle filters. Both drive units offer smooth, quiet running and dynamic handling. The engine units are economical and flexible thanks to supercharging and direct fuel injection; the harmonious torque curve enables both a sporty and a comfortable ride. Maximum torque of 250 Nm is available from 1,500 min to 2,500 min for the 1.6 TDI CR engine, for the 1.2 TDI CR engine the torque reaches a maximum of 180 Nm at 2000 min.

Design measures in second-generation GreenLine versions lead to marked fuel savings and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The Skoda Fabia GreenLine and the Skoda Fabia Combi GreenLine have combined consumption of only 3.4 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of 89g/km. The Skoda Roomster, a compact MPV, has a consumption of 4.2 litres per 100 kilometres, a record in its category. CO2 emissions are 109g/km, which is also a top parameter in this class.

The Skoda Octavia GreenLine is supplied as a hatchback and a combi. The hatchback version has combined consumption of 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 99g/km; the combi will travel 100km for 4.2l with CO2 emissions at 109g/km. This therefore makes the Skoda Octavia GreenLine one of the most environmentally-friendly cars in its segment. The Skoda Yeti proves that SUV-category cars can be economical and environmental-friendly. Despite the larger front area, the GreenLine version offers combined consumption of only 4.6 litres per 100 kilometres (119g/km of CO2). Even with these low values, the Skoda Yeti GreenLine remains a very agile car. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in only 12.1 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 176km/h.

GreenLine versions are also offered for the top-of-the-range Skoda Auto cars, the Skoda Superb and now the Skoda Superb Combi. Both versions have combined consumption of only 4.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of 114g/km.

With the GreenLine models Skoda Auto has created a highly modern range of cars with extraordinarily low consumption, even in classes to which almost no attention has been paid until now in terms of consumption. There are eight different versions with at least one car in each model series.

Skoda is presenting the new Skoda Fabia vRS hatch and estate at the Geneva Motor Show, where it will join the sports-tuned Skoda Octavia vRS. Both Skoda Fabia vRS versions are indeed impressive: for the first time ever, Skoda Auto is using a double-supercharged, four-cylinder petrol engine providing 180bhp, in an engine of just 1.4 litres.

A sophisticated compressor-and-turbo combination increases the engine power smoothly and harmonically, and the maximum speed of 140 mph (141 mph in the estate version) and 0-62mph acceleration in just 7.3 seconds in both versions mean a sporty driving experience. With fuel consumption of 44.1 mpg, the Skoda Fabia vRS offers high power and maximum fuel efficiency as well as excellent environmental parameters.

Both versions boast an attractively designed front bumper and integrated fog lamps with integrated LED lights that can be fitted with cornering lights as an option. The vehicle’s unique position in the Skoda Fabia range is underlined by 17″ lightweight alloy Gigaro wheels developed specially for the vRS, red brake callipers, tinted windows, a new rear bumper with a diffuser and dual exhaust. Depending on the colour of the body, the roof, roof spoiler and wheels for the Skoda Fabia vRS hatchback will be available in a choice of black, white or silver.

The vehicle’s sports-tuned chassis – with ESP, ABS and ASR – is designed for powerful dynamic and safe driving performance. To enhance the driving experience, the new XDS electronic differential improves the car’s cornering ability. It brakes the inside front wheel electronically to increase the torque on the outside front wheel. Accelerating through corners, the resulting torque gives the vRS impressive agility. A tyre pressure monitor (TMP) and uphill start assistant are standard, providing greater comfort and safety.

Both the Skoda Fabia vRS hatch and estate are fitted with height-adjustable sports seats with vRS logos on the backrests. A height- and reach-adjustable, three-spoke leather-wrapped sports steering wheel has paddles for manual control of the seven-speed DSG gearbox. The purity of the interior design is underlined by an Onyx-shaded dashboard and stainless steel pedals with an anti-slip surface.

In connection with the new design of the Skoda Fabia vRS, Skoda has also adapted the design of its rally car, the Skoda Fabia Super 2000. Under new FIA regulations for the Super 2000 category, the vehicle has been widened to 1,820 mm. To improve the performance of the Fabia Super 2000 rally car, Skoda has also adapted the engine’s air intake and exhaust system.

The new model features a white roof, new alloys and lowered suspension for a more sporty and trendy looks.

At the interior, the Fabia Blue Line got the “Magic” upholstery, climate control air conditioning. Storage boxes under the front seats and a glasses storage space.

The car is produced in two versions, one powered by a 1.2 70HP petrol engine with a price of 9,990 pounds($17,345 or €12,820)and the other one gets the power from a 1.4 80 HP diesel and its cost reaches 11,450 pounds($19,800 or €14,700).

“The BlueLine is a great looking car at an incredibly good price which offers a touch of individuality in the crowded supermini market. So it’s based on the estate version of the new Fabia, but has only ‘visual off-road features’. That means no four-wheel drive to you and me, so it’s another weird faux-by-four. Skoda has concentrated on plastic cladding and chromed roofrails on this concept car that’s surely a dead cert to enter production.

There is one interesting feature though – a pop-out bench that slides out from the boot floor, so you can perch on the boot for picnics. But is that enough to make this worthy of the Scout name? The next big news from Skoda is the all-new Superb due at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show in March. It is said to be just as big as today’s cavernous saloon, but with a welcome dollop of extra style. Don’t hold your breath for a Superb Scout though…
